On the ferry

Went to a preschool beach party on Anderson island on Monday. That
takes a ferry ride. Here we are with Alexander on the boat. -Gerrit

The end of another big day.

Olympia

A quick run to the beach house to help the preschool family that won a
weekend at the cabin settle in, then to the Olympia childrens museum
and the Capitol grounds for some fun. -Gerrit

Mass transit adventure

We wanted pike place mini doughnuts, to see Andy and Ajax at their work, and to visit Seth and family in their new Ravenna park home. All using mass transit. It went something like this: bus 13 from our house to downtown Tacoma, bus 590 to downtown seattle, walk to market, walk to westlake, ride SLUT (south lake union tram) to lake union, walk 15 minutes to andy's work, bus 70 to UW, bus 73 to Ravenna, walk 10 minutes to Seths, play a few hours, bus 30 to UW, 71 to king street, sounder train to Tacoma dome(boarded just as doors were closing), Tacoma link tram to downtown Tacoma, sprinted to bus 13 which took us back home. Whew.

Nice to see Andy, and the boys had fun playing with Seth's son Achem, who is 5. I enjoyed hanging out with Seth. Nice having him nearby again. We played a lot in the creek in ravenna park and a playground there. Fun day. -Gerrit

Biking at wapato lake

It was a bit cloudy with a few rain drops on Wednesday, but not bad enough to stop a ride around wapato lake. -Gerrit

Serious rain

The clouds came in and threw some serious rain and hail at the beach
house. Seemed like it was hitting the house horizontally. -Gerrit

Boat trip

Took a boat ride to the marina. It was nice and calm when we left,
but we had to bounce through white caps on the way back. The weather
sure changes quickly. Any rougher, and we would have turned around,
beaches the boat, and walked back to the cabin. -Gerrit

Track and field day

Popsicles after the last event at Henry's track and field day last
week. -Gerrit

Cycling in centralia

A visit to Stuart's graduation party left us with some time to bicycle
around Borst park.

Low tide

Harry and Lucy spent the night last night. Today we are exploring the
beach at a -2.2 tide.

Lunch on the lawn

Max and I enjoyed a nice lunch on the lawn. We watched a robin
hunting fol worms with it's babies, then feeding the worms to the
juvenile robins. Lots of birds chirping and squirrels climbing around
the trees kept things interesting. -Gerrit

Greenwater lakes backpacking

A nice backpacking trip to Greenwater lakes this last weekend. The Auburn Nylands and the Tacoma Nylands enjoyed a pleasant hike up the Greenwater river. Mostly damp in the 60's, but a nice fire and lots of fun made it a great trip.
