Geocaching again

We stopped at a playground by some geocaches on our way to get some
gravel for a new pathway on our yard. -Gerrit

a car I'd love to drive

Henry and Max in front of a fine Lotus Exige.

Slalom

I'm not even really sure what they are doing, but they spent a lot of
time riding down the hill on the truck. -Gerrit

Front yard fun

Some saturday sliding and sprinkler jumping with Lucas and matt from
across the street, as well Ramon from across the alley. -Gerrit

The action

Our view of the action (well, our third seats, actually, as we needed
a playground and a snack break, and wanted to check out all the
bleachers). It was classic car and drafster night, I think. Nothing
modern was there. Pretty cool cars, and lots of smoke and noise. -

Drag racing

We went to Pacific Raceways to watch a night of drag racing. Pretty
fun. Hot day, though. -Gerrit

Biking and geocaching

Last Friday, the boys and I took our bikes to an odd little bike trail
in Milton and did some geocaching (found 2, couldn't find 1). Had
fun. -Gerrit

Feeding the horses

Feeding the horses on the island last wednesday. -Gerrit

Long day

Tired after a big day. -Gerrit

Swimming

We went to our friends house, where jack, Katie and zander joined us
for some swimming. The water here behind their spit was like bath
water, lovely. Don't know where Henry was when I took this pic. -Gerrit

The calm

Here are henry and max, peering over the side. The wind is usually
calm in the bay, especially at low tide. We had good wind for the
sail across, and excellent wind on the way back (we swam and played in
water at our friends beach house on the other side of the bay for a
few hours). -Gerrit

Sailing

Here are Lucy and Max on my little sailboat heading across the bay. -

At the beach again

I took Lucy, Harry, Max and Henry out to the beach for a couple of
days midweek. Very fun. -Gerrit

Capes

Henry has been wearing this tiny cape I think Nana made for a stuffed
animal. Anyway, we ended up making a few more proper sized ones,
modeled here by Max.

Henry doing some climbing

More zoo

Max and some cardboard lemurs.

At the zoo

Last week my friend Seth came down with his two kids Achem (5 years
old, pictured here) and Gabriel(14 months). They stayed with us a
couple of days, and we took them to the zoo. Very fun. We have a
camping day planned fornext week with them as well. -Gerrit

Lessons on kayaking

Jess shows us some how not to climb in your swamped kayak (though he
did make it back in and across the bay with no further troubles) -Gerrit

On the rope swing

Swinging with zander on the famed rope swing. -Gerrit

The train

Here is the train we rode.

On the train

We went out and rode the train at Kitsap Live Steamers, a club with
toy trains you can ride. Pretty fun. -Gerrit

Donut breakfast

Last night we hosted a party for the other doctors in sarah's clinic.
Fun to meet the providers and their families.

Here we are stopping fir Tacoma's finest doughnuts on our way to the
beach house. -Gerrit

Fireworks

Bad picture, great fireworks. Probably the best view we've ever had.
The deck was packed, and fun was had by all. The boys stayed up for
the whole show, and I stayed up way too late chatting with Flavio and
Andressa and Jason from across the street about brazil. Very
enjoyable. -Gerrit

4th party

Some kids playing in the fountain in our front yard at our party. -

4th of July

Here we ate with some couchsurfers Flavio and Andressa, heading down
to the waterfront for the forth of July fair. Our friends are from
brazil, but have been in the US for 3 years getting MBAs. They are
staying with us a few days before touring for a month in the western
US, then on to school in BC.

One of my favorite parts of hosting foreigners is showing them new
foods. They had never eaten fresh peas (from our garden),
raspberries, cherries, or French toast. Fun. -Gerrit

Some pruning

Henry and max taking a breather before heading into the brush for
another round of clipping. The three of us and a few others from time
to time spent a good 3 hours clearing overgrown brush that I've been
ignoring for years. -Gerrit
