Climbing

The world is Max's playground. I've got to get that boy in a
gymnastics class. Today he could, on his tip toes, just get his
fingers on to of a cement wall, and immediately climbed up and was
walking across the top of it. Here he is on some public art at the
museum tram stop. -Gerrit

A night out

Tried to get h1n1 immunizations yesterday, but the clinic was out by
the time we arrived. Ugh. The boys ad u did get our hair cut,
though. Decided to go to the history museum, but it was closed. It
used to be open for free on all Thursday nights, but now it is just
every 3rd Thursday. So we ran around and looked at the cool public
art around the museum of glass. Very warm evening - the boys just
wore short sleeve shirts (although I wore a jacket). Sarah is still
in bed, day 6 of whatever flu she has. She says she is finally
feeling a bit better. -Gerrit

Olympia childrens museum

The Olympia childrens museum continues to be the best I've seen. Max
and Allie and I hung out for a few hours, and really enjoyed ourselves
(pictured here in the vet area). Ate lunch at wagners, a nice little
deli, and max and Allie are now running around the fountain on the
Capitol grounds. -Gerrit

Terry's berries

Monday was the annual preschool fieldtrip to Terry's berries, a great
little organic farm next to the Puyallup river.

Funeral

My Great Aunt Betty passed away last week, and we spent Sunday in
Chehalis attending her funeral. It was a lovely service in a packed
sanctuary. It was the boy's first funeral, and they did very well,
sitting very well for the entire service. I think Henry understood
what was going on, but it would probably have been clearer to Max if
there was an actual dead person to see. When Nancy was singing , max
asked me if she was going to die tomorrow (no, it was aunt Betty who
died last week...). We carpooled with bill and meg and jess and Joe.
After dropping a distant cousin off at the airport, we ate a late
dinner at Harmons (Henry's choice, as it was his birthday). -Gerrit

Henrys birthday party

We had a nice birthday party for Henry on Saturday. Nana made a great
pasta bar (loved the gorgonzola sauce). Janet made an appearance,
which was impressive coming so soon after surgery. We brought Joe
home with us and the boys spent Sunday morning playing with all
Henry's cool new toys. -Gerrit

Tacoma childrens museum

After buying some veggies and having lunch at the farmers market last Thursday, max and I made a brief stop at the childrens museum.  Pretty fun, but max needed a pal to hang out with - I was s bit boring.  -Gerrit

Paris 2010

I don't understand Henty's interest in photographing train pictures,
but here is a French train photographed from a train magazine that we
may get to see this summer. We are preparing for a trip to the
Netherlands to see Leslie, Andy and Ian, and then to Paris and the
French alps. We want to see ollie's family if they are free - their
schedule and Henry's summer break will influence our schedule the
most. We may also take Achem (My friend Seth's 6 year old) with us and
deliver him to his grandparents in Germany. Finally, we want to spend
some time visiting my relatives in Zeest, in the Netherlands. Should
be a full trip... -Gerrit

Dinner with Andy

I forgot to take some photos at the birthday party. After the party
we called up Andy and Ajax and met them in a park in Madison Park,
then ate a fine meal with Andy at Cactus, a great southwestern
restaurant nearby. -Gerrit

Rei

We stopped to buy achem a gift from rei in Seattle, and max couldn't
pass up trying on some goggles. -Gerrit

Beautiful day.

Max and I played some cards and watched the great scenery on our ferry
ride. A bright sun and clear skies made for a nice trip (we were even
able to see mt baker). -Gerrit

Adventure day

Max and I went from the beach house to Seattle for Achem's birthday
party. Here max is on the ferry leaving Bremerton. -Gerrit

Day off

No school for Henry, and we skipped preschool for Max. Stayed the
night at the beach joyse last night. Wanted to find a good spot to
bike, so we decided to explore Jarrell's cove state park. Not a good
place to Nike, but fun exploring none-the-less. -Gerrit

Zoo breakfast

The zoo had a breakfast for members, so we went early to the zoo and
had some cool animal visits and some behind the scenes spots. Here is
max with some fake coral above the shark tank. We also went to the
elephant barn.

Backpacking Trip to Shi-Shi Beach

My friend Seth and I went to Shi-Shi Beach on the ocean nearly at the northern tip of washington. The weather was quite nice. Warm and sunny most of the time, with some clouds and a bit of rain on the morning we left. A long drive, and easy hike, and spectacular scenery. Nice to get away for a few days. Thanks Nana and Janet for watching the boys while I was away.
